Pressekonferenz am Freitag: Luisa Neubauer, Nika Kovač und internationale Klimaaktivist*innen in Sloweniens Überflutungsgebieten
Eine Gruppe von Aktivist*innen aus Österreich, Kroatien und Deutschland - darunter Luisa Neubauer (Fridays For Future Deutschland) - wird am Donnerstag, den 10. August nach Ljubljana reisen. Auf Einladung der slowenischen Klimaaktivist*innen rund um Nika Kovač (Leiterin des 8 March Institute) werden sie in den von der Flut betroffenen Regionen unterstützen.
Am Freitag den 11. August stellen sie in einer gemeinsamen Pressekonferenz Forderungen an die europäische Klimapolitik, um im Kontext der anstehenden Europawahlen auf die wachsende Bedeutung von Katastrophen- und Klimaschutz hinzuweisen.

Ein Gespräch mit Sloweniens Staatspräsidentin Nataša Pirc Musar und der Außenministerin Tanja Fajon wird angefragt.
Hintergrund: Das Ausmaß der Katastrophe ist erschütternd: Sechs Todesopfer, gigantische Schäden. Mehr Hitze, mehr Verdunstung, mehr Niederschlag, mehr Überschwemmungen. Die Klimakrise schafft in Slowenien bedrohliche Realitäten. Jahrelang hat Europa Klimaschutz verzögert, jetzt leidet Slowenien unter den Konsequenzen, und am schlimmsten trifft die Klimakrise jene, die schon heute am verwundbarsten sind.

Press conference on Friday: Luisa Neubauer, Nika Kovač and international climate activists in Slovenia's crisis regions
A group of activists from Austria, Croatia and Germany - including Luisa Neubauer (Fridays For Future Germany) - will travel to Ljubljana on Thursday, August 10th. On the invitation of Slovenian climate activists around Nika Kovač (head of the 8 March Institute) they will support people on the ground.
On Friday, August 11th, the climate activists will hold a joint press conference to present their demands regarding the European climate policy and to emphasize the growing importance of disaster control and climate protection in light of the upcoming European elections.

A meeting with Slovenia's President Nataša Pirc Musar and the Minister of Foreign Affairs Tanja Fajon will be requested.
Background: The scale of the disaster is staggering: six fatalities, enormous damage.
Increased heat, increased evaporation, heavier rainfall, heavier flooding. The climate crisis has become a threatening reality in Slovenia. For years, Europe has delayed climate protection, now Slovenia is suffering the consequences, and those who are already most vulnerable are among the most affected.
