Press conference: International Climate Activists protesting against the European Gas Conference in Vienna

[GERMAN VERSION BELOW]

On 28 March at 11 a.m., the press conference concerning the days of action against the European Gas Conference in Vienna will be held and livestreamed by the international climate movement.

Vienna. The Who's Who of the destructive gas industry will meet behind closed doors next week for the European Gas Conference in Vienna. The host OMV (this time alone, until last year together with Russia's Gazprom) invites the biggest and most damaging companies worldwide to a large conference. Gas corporations, transport companies, lobby groups, financial investors are all involved. Except for civil society, which is practically denied access due to ticket prices of up to 5099€.

Thousands of activists will oppose this with protests and blockades under the civil society alliance "BlockGas". Representatives of the African anti-gas campaign "Don't Gas Africa", Eastern European activists from Fridays For Future and many others will raise their voices for a climate-just world in Vienna.

The press conference will focus on the significance of the gas conference for the African continent, the war of aggression in Ukraine and the global climate crisis. In addition, the results of the "Power to the People" counter-conference will be presented and questions about blockades and protests will be explained.

Speakers:
Valeriia Bondarieva, Ukrainian Fridays For Future activist
Dean Bhebhe Bhekumuzi, Don't Gas Africa
Luisa Neubauer, Fridays For Future Germany
Wiktoria Jędroszkowiak, Wschód, Fridays For Future Eastern Europe

Wien.
